Five girls from Gharoh School selected for National Football Competition, honoured by Shahpur MLA

Shahpur (Kangra), Oct 22 (UNI) Five girls from Government Senior Secondary School, Gharoh, in Kangra district have been selected for a national-level football competition, bringing pride to the Shahpur region.
Shahpur MLA and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania congratulated and felicitated Pratigya, Khushi Sharma, Shanvi, Aarushi and Miller Dolma for their achievement during a meeting with them at Rait.
Pathania said the selection of five girls from a single school for a national-level football competition was a matter of immense pride and joy for the entire Shahpur region.
He said the achievement reflected the girls' hard work, dedication and sporting talent, as well as the guidance provided by their school.
He wished the players a bright future and said the state government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, had substantially increased the award money for sportspersons to encourage athletes and promote sporting talent.
The move, he said, would boost players' morale and motivate more young people to take up sports.
On the occasion, Pathania honoured the five players with mufflers, caps and mementoes and offered them sweets. He also announced that he would provide them with sports shoes and tracksuits to support their sporting pursuits.
Sharing experiences from his own sporting career, Pathania recalled his student days and encouraged the girls to work hard in both sports and academics while remaining focused on their goals. He himself has represented his university at the national level in hockey on five occasions.
School Principal Nisha Dogra, physical education teacher Kartar, Mukesh and Rishu were also honoured on the occasion. Dr Sunanda Pathania, in-charge of ATC Shahpur and scientific officer, and former Congress block president Surjeet Rana were also present.
