Five held with drugs in Haryana; Rs 13.60 lakh assets targeted in trafficking case

Panchkula, Oct 18 (UNI) Haryana Police arrested five suspected drug traffickers and seized 402 grams of opium, 1.048 kg of ganja and 6.075 grams of heroin in Hisar and Sirsa districts, besides initiating proceedings to freeze assets worth Rs 13.60 lakh linked to another accused, officials said on Sunday.
The arrests were made in four separate operations, three of them involving the recovery of opium and ganja from individual suspects and the fourth resulting in the seizure of heroin from two motorcycle-borne youths.
In Hisar, a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Mill Gate team arrested Shashi, a resident of Matra Shyam village, and recovered 1.048 kg of ganja from his possession following a tip-off. A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Sadar Hisar police station.
In another operation, the same CIA unit arrested Rohit, a resident of Talwandi Badshahpur, near Muklan village and seized 300 grams of opium and his Bullet motorcycle.
CIA Mill Gate in-charge Jagdish Kumar said the suspect was intercepted on the basis of specific information. A case was registered at Azad Nagar police station.
In Sirsa, CIA Ellenabad personnel arrested Aslam, a resident of Kagdana village, with 102 grams of opium. Police said he attempted to turn back after spotting a patrol team but was intercepted.
Separately, CIA Sirsa arrested Suresh alias Bhola and Vikash, both residents of Rupana village, and recovered 6.075 grams of heroin. The two allegedly tried to flee on a motorcycle near Nehrana Road. Their motorcycle was also seized.
Separate cases were registered under the NDPS Act at Nathusari Chopta police station in connection with the two Sirsa operations.
Meanwhile, Hisar Police initiated proceedings under Section 68F of the NDPS Act to freeze five vehicles valued at approximately Rs 13.60 lakh linked to Kuldeep, a resident of Ambedkar Basti, who was booked in January 2025 following the alleged recovery of 43 grams of heroin.
The vehicles include a Honda Activa, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Maruti Swift, Tata Punch and Mahindra Scorpio Classic.
Police said the asset-freezing action was aimed at identifying and targeting property suspected to be connected with illicit drug trafficking.
Hisar Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain said enforcement would extend beyond arrests and narcotics seizures to assets allegedly acquired through the illegal trade.
Police said they would seek a remand of the arrested suspects to investigate the sources of the contraband and identify others involved in the supply networks.
