Ganja worth Rs 1.35 crore seized near Dharmavaram in Kakinada district; two held

Kakinada, Oct 30 (UNI) Prathipadu police, along with the Eagle team, seized 270.750 kg of ganja worth an estimated Rs 1.35 crore from a car on the National Highway near Dharmavaram in Kakinada district on Friday and arrested two persons.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the police intercepted the Maruti car and recovered the contraband packed in eight gunny bags.
The vehicle and two Aadhaar cards were also seized.
The arrested were identified as Adiraju Naidu (24) and Pothuraju Manikantha (24), both residents of Benna Bhupalapatnam village in Rolugunta mandal of Anakapalli district.
Prathipadu Sub-Inspector S Lakshmikantham told reporters that the ganja was being transported from the agency areas of Odisha to Maharashtra.
A third accused, identified as Jerripothula Vamsikrishna, who allegedly masterminded the smuggling operation, escaped after noticing the police.
A search is under way to apprehend him, she said.
