GOC 56 Infantry Division calls on Arunachal Guv; discusses security, civil-military cooperation

Itanagar, June 23 (UNI) General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army's 56 Infantry Division, Major General Vivek Bakshi called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd)
KT Parnaik at the Raj Bhavan here on Monday.
They deliberated on the prevailing security scenario along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), civil-military cooperation, and welfare initiatives for ex-servicemen.
During the interaction, the Governor and the GOC discussed the strategic environment in border areas, joint disaster preparedness measures, and enhanced collaboration between the armed
forces and civil administration. They also reviewed the Army’s outreach and support programs
for ex-servicemen and Veer Naris across the State, a communique from the Raj Bhavan said.
Commending the Indian Army for its discipline and dedication in safeguarding Arunachal’s borders, Governor Parnaik expressed confidence in the Army’s preparedness and its vital role in maintaining peace and territorial integrity in sensitive regions.
He emphasized the importance of robust civil-military synergy, citing successful joint initiatives in road construction, disaster response, and civic action programs. He particularly highlighted the transformative potential of schemes like the Vibrant Villages Programme when effectively supported by both military and civilian agencies.
As a strong advocate for ex-servicemen’s welfare, the Governor, who has been actively participating in ex-servicemen rallies across the State, suggested expanding job fairs, medical camps, and pension outreach initiatives, especially in remote districts.
The Governor also encouraged the Army to engage more actively with the youth of Arunachal Pradesh through motivational talks in schools and awareness programs about careers in the armed forces. He said that such initiatives would not only inspire patriotism and discipline but also open new pathways for youth, especially in remote and border areas.
Major General Bakshi assured the Governor of the Army’s continued support and close cooperation with the State Government to promote the shared goals of national security, inclusive development, and community welfare, the communiqué added.
