Govt. to support 2,100 women with assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh for startups

Patna, October 12 (UNI) The Bihar government has initiated a programme to promote entrepreneurship among female students and young women, with the Bihar Beti Startup Challenge Yojana envisaging support for 2,100 beneficiaries to help them turn innovative ideas into viable business ventures.
Official sources said here on Monday that under the initiative, selected participants are expected to receive financial assistance and incentives ranging from Rs 50,000 to
Rs 2 lakh to start their businesses. The scheme aims to encourage innovation among young women, promote self-employment and strengthen their participation in the state''s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The initiative is intended to provide aspiring women entrepreneurs with an opportunity to transform their ideas into business ventures. Along with financial assistance, emphasis has been placed on providing guidance and necessary support to women who have innovative startup ideas but lack the resources to turn them into reality.
With startups, technology and innovation increasingly emerging as important drivers of economic growth, the scheme is expected to encourage young women to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and develop business models with commercial potential, the sources added.
The financial assistance could help selected beneficiaries meet their initial business requirements, including expenses associated with setting up and developing their ventures. Successful startups may also create employment opportunities for others, contributing to local economic activity.
A key objective of the initiative is to promote women''s economic empowerment by encouraging them to become job creators rather than merely job seekers. Through financial support and guidance, the programme seeks to enable young women to become financially independent and establish their identities in the business sector. The initiative could prove particularly beneficial for women who have promising ideas and the ability to execute them but are unable to launch their ventures due to a lack of capital.
Greater participation of women in entrepreneurship is expected to promote the use of local resources, stimulate economic activity and generate employment opportunities across the state, claimed the sources. The development of small businesses and innovative startups could also contribute to strengthening Bihar''s economy.
