Gurajada’s literary legacy should be preserved for future generations: Minister Srinivas

Vizianagaram, Sept 21 (UNI) The literary works and legacy of Navayuga Vaithalika Gurajada Venkata Apparao would remain timeless and efforts should be made to preserve and pass them on to future generations, Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Empowerment Relations Kondapalli Srinivas said on Monday.
For the first time, Gurajada Venkata Apparao's 164th birth anniversary was celebrated as a State Government festival at the Collectorate Auditorium here.
Minister Srinivas, who attended the celebrations as chief guest, was felicitated for his efforts in getting Gurajada's birth anniversary officially declared as a State Government festival.
He also paid floral tributes to the poet's statue.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister called for preservation of the state's culture, traditions and literary heritage and their transmission to future generations.
He recalled that Telugu people from the erstwhile Visakhapatnam district had migrated to Malaysia around 120 years ago and formed a Telugu association there. He appreciated their efforts to preserve Telugu culture, traditions and customs and pass them on to subsequent generations.
Srinivas said it was particularly noteworthy that Telugu continued to be spoken in their households and that even members of Generation Z in Malaysia were following Telugu traditions and cultural practices.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh for declaring Gurajada's birth anniversary as a State Government festival.
District In-charge Collector Sethu Madhavan recalled Gurajada's famous words, “Desamante matti kadoi, desamante manushuloi”, and said the poet's message that a nation was defined by its people continued to inspire generations.
