Gurugram: Traffic diversions announced as major water pipeline leak disrupts Sector 54-55 road

Gurugram, Oct 26 (UNI) Traffic diversions have been announced at AIT Chowk in Gurugram's Sector 54-55 after a major leak in an underground drinking water pipeline caused extensive waterlogging on the main road, disrupting vehicular movement and posing potential safety risks to commuters.
According to a traffic advisory, the damaged pipeline is located approximately eight feet below ground level, making immediate excavation and repair necessary to prevent further wastage of drinking water and possible damage to the road.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will undertake emergency repair work from 10 pm on Monday, October 26, until 4 am on Tuesday, October 27, during which traffic movement around AIT Chowk will be diverted.
The advisory states that the leakage has resulted in "a large quantity of drinking water being wasted", besides causing water accumulation on the main carriageway and inconvenience to commuters.
Under the diversion plan, vehicles approaching from Sector 54 Metro Station will not be permitted to take a U-turn at the AIT Chowk roundabout. Instead, motorists must proceed approximately 100 metres ahead, take a U-turn and use the Wazirabad-side service road.
They will then take another U-turn at the cut near the CNG filling station before proceeding towards Genpact Chowk.
Similarly, vehicles approaching from Ghata Power House will be diverted away from the AIT Chowk roundabout.
These vehicles will use the Wazirabad-side service road and take a U-turn near the CNG pump to continue towards Genpact Chowk.
The diversions are intended to facilitate uninterrupted repair work while reducing the risk of accidents and traffic congestion around the affected stretch.
The authorities have advised motorists travelling through the Sector 54-55 area during the overnight repair period to follow the designated diversion routes and plan their journeys accordingly.
The emergency work aims to restore the damaged water supply pipeline and prevent further waterlogging and deterioration of the affected road.
