GVMC bags 2 state-level Swachha Andhra Awards

Visakhapatnam, Oct 1 (UNI) The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has been selected for two state-level awards under the Swachha Andhra Awards-2026, recognising its work in cleanliness and sanitation, Commissioner Ketan Garg said today.
GVMC has been selected for the state-level Swachha Municipalities award in the Urban Local Bodies category for cities with a population of over three lakh, and the Swachha Government Offices award.
Y Nagaraju of GVMC's West Zone has also been selected for a state-level award in the Swachhata Warriors category.
The awards will be presented by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at a ceremony at A-Convention in Vijayawada on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
The selections were communicated officially by the Swachha Andhra Corporation, Garg said.
Several individuals and organisations within GVMC limits have also been selected for district-level awards.
Under the Best Swachhata Warriors (Sanitation Workers) category, Bangari Prasad of the North Zone, B Sai Sankar Rao of the South Zone, P Satyavathi of the Gajuwaka Zone and G Koteswari of the East Zone have been selected.
The Sri Tirumala Nagar Residents' Welfare Association has been selected for the district-level award under the Swachha Colonies category.
The district-level awards will be presented at the VMRDA Children's Arena in Visakhapatnam on October 2.
Garg said it was a matter of pride that GVMC, along with individuals, organisations and associations within the city limits, had been recognised at both the state and district levels.
