Haryana CM sanctions over Rs 2,000 crore for 400 govt school buildings

Gurugram, Nov 4 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday announced approval of a scheme worth more than Rs 2,000 crore to strengthen infrastructure in government schools, under which over 400 schools will get new buildings by the end of December 2027.
He also came down hard on errant officials, ordering salary cuts, a chargesheet, a transfer and a suspension at a single hearing.
The CM disclosed the school scheme while hearing a complaint about the renovation of a school building at the District Public Relations and Grievances Committee meeting here.
He said the government's aim was to give students a better learning environment and modern facilities.
Of the 15 complaints placed before the meeting, 11 were disposed of on the spot. The remaining four were kept pending until the next meeting, and officials were told to submit a status report on action taken.
Hearing a complaint from the Patauda-Jatauli Mandi area under the municipal council, the Chief Minister took serious note of property IDs created in violation of rules. The inquiry found that the then building inspector and municipal engineer had generated the IDs without prior permission of the competent authority and without following the prescribed procedure.
Saini directed that both officials face a 50 per cent salary cut for three months, be chargesheeted and be transferred outside Haryana's NCR districts. Negligence and disregard for rules in government work would not be tolerated, he said, adding that officials must be held accountable in matters affecting public interest.
On a citizen's complaint, the Chief Minister ordered the immediate suspension of a Municipal Corporation Gurugram patwari for misbehaving with the complainant. Every official and employee is duty-bound to treat citizens with respect, he said, and mistreatment of visitors or neglect of their grievances would not be accepted under any circumstances.
Taking up a complaint of negligence in road renovation and failure to meet prescribed standards, Saini ordered a one-month salary cut for the concerned Public Works Department executive engineer. Quality and timeliness in road construction and renovation must be ensured, he said, and officials were told to monitor development works regularly.
Taking cognisance of complaints about the cleanliness and upkeep of public toilets in the Gurugram and Manesar municipal corporation areas, the Chief Minister ordered an inquiry. Three-member committees, each including a government official, will be formed through the District Public Relations and Grievances Committee for every zone. They will inspect public toilets in Gurugram's six zones and Manesar's two zones and submit reports within one month. Arrangements for better maintenance and regular cleanliness will be made on the basis of these reports.
Saini said resolving public grievances on priority, within fixed timelines, and providing quality services was the collective responsibility of all officials and employees.
The government, he added, was committed to ensuring prompt and effective redressal of every citizen's problem.
Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Patauda MLA Bimla Chaudhary, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar and Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma were present.
Also present were Urban Local Bodies Principal Adviser D.S. Dhesi, GMDA CEO P.C. Meena, Police Commissioner Shivas Kaviraj, Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh, Manesar Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Singh, the Chief Minister's OSD and Additional Director in the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department Vivek Kaliya, ADC Sonu Bhatt, CTM Jyoti Nagpal, BJP Gurugram Mahanagar district president Ajit Yadav and other officials.
