Haryana: Minister Bedi targets Opposition

Kaithal. Oct 31 (UNI) Haryana Minister Krishna Bedi today accused the Opposition of spreading rumours, misleading people, constantly questioning the credibility of constitutional institutions in the name of protest.
Addressing a press conference at BJP office here, he said that India's democracy is the largest and strongest in the world. Its greatest strength lies in the people and the mandate given by them. In a democracy, power is determined not by the will of any family, organization, or individual, but by the public's vote. Unfortunately, when the opposition lacks public support and election results are not in its favour, it begins to question democratic institutions and electoral processes. Putting constitutional institutions in the dock instead of accepting defeat is inconsistent with democratic traditions.
He said that Congress and the opposition must understand that in a democracy, everyone has the right to protest, but spreading confusion, misleading the public, and constantly questioning the credibility of constitutional institutions in the name of protest is not appropriate. In a democracy, the people are supreme, and it is the responsibility of every political party to respect their decision.
Bedi further stated that the accuracy and transparency of voter lists are fundamental to democracy. Ensuring the inclusion of every eligible Indian citizen in the voter list and the protection of every citizen's right to vote is a crucial part of the electoral process.
He said that while Congress today invokes the Constitution and democracy, the country has not forgotten the Emergency, when democratic rights were curtailed, press freedom was affected, and opposition leaders were imprisoned.
The minister further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is steadily progressing in the areas of development, good governance, national security, infrastructure, science, technology, and public welfare.
He said that democracy is not limited to elections, but rather a system based on respect for constitutional institutions, protection of civil rights, accountability, and public participation.
He said that the message of the "Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy" campaign is clear: instead of nepotism and power-centric politics, the country should respect the will of the people, the dignity of the Constitution, and democratic values.
On this occasion, BJP District President Jyoti Saini said that the party is committed to protecting democratic values, constitutional institutions, and public rights. UNI XC SS
