Haryana: Two sentenced to life for 2018 murder in Fatehabad

Panchkula, Sep 15 (UNI) A court at Fatehabad today sentenced two men to life imprisonment for killing a man with a kassi and gandasa during a dispute over irrigation of agricultural land in Jakhal in 2018, prosecution officials said.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Amit Garg convicted Gurmukh Singh alias Midda and Tarsem under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC in FIR No. 116, registered on July 10, 2018, at Jakhal police station. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each convict. In default of payment, they will undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment, the officials said.
According to the Deputy Director of Prosecution, Fatehabad, Dr Sunil Kumar, the incident took place on July 10, 2018, when a dispute erupted over the turn for irrigating agricultural fields. The two accused attacked the victim with a kassi and gandasa, causing serious injuries to his head and other parts of the body. He was taken to hospital but died during treatment, the prosecution officials said.
During the investigation, an iron kassi allegedly used in the offence was recovered from Gurmukh Singh alias Midda. Medical and forensic evidence was also collected. After completion of the investigation, the chargesheet was filed before the court.
The prosecution said that the court, after evaluating the evidence, including witness statements and medical evidence, convicted both accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
