Helpline to be launched for Maha farmers: Vikhe-Patil

Kolhapur, Oct 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Water Resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil today said that the government intends to start a helpline in the Superintendent Engineer's office and in every Executive Engineer's office to get information about the water available for the farmers and to inform the department if they have any problems or complaints.
While presiding over a meeting as chairman of the Canal Advisory Committee held at the district collectorate here, he said that due to the impact of El Nino, drinking water for August 2027 has been reserved for the year 2026-27 and a plan has been prepared for drinking and irrigation for the Rabi and summer seasons of 2026-27 based on the remaining water reserve.
Vikhe Patil said "this year has seen very low rainfall due to the effect of El Nino. There is severe drought in many parts of the state. At such a time, the condition of Kolhapur district is comparatively better. But it is necessary for all of us to use the available water very sparingly and supply it till June-July of next year. For this, everyone should cooperate."
State ministers Hasan Mushrif, guardian minister Prakash Abulitkar also spoke in the meeting.
