Himachal: Nurpur Police secure freezing of assets worth Rs 1.01 crore in drug case

Dharamshala, Oct 27 (UNI) Nurpur Police have secured confirmation of the freezing of three properties worth Rs 1.01 crore in an alleged drug trafficking case, taking the total value of assets frozen in cases involving drug traffickers in the police district to over Rs 31.71 crore.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, Dharmchand Verma said today that the Competent Authority and Administrator confirmed the freezing order on October 26 following a financial investigation into properties allegedly acquired through illicit drug proceeds.
The case originated from an FIR registered at Indora police station on May 30, 2017, after 6.50 grams of heroin was recovered from a woman, Dalviro. A court convicted her on April 1, 2025, sentencing her to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
The three properties include a residential property belonging to Dalviro in Chhanni village, Indaura tehsil, valued at Rs 61.96 lakh; a residential property, along with furniture, household appliances and other items, belonging to Mithun alias Chhappar, valued at Rs 32.60 lakh; and a car belonging to Gharo Devi, worth Rs 6.98 lakh.
The total assessed value of the properties is Rs 1,01,55,718. The freezing order was issued by Indora police station on September 28, and subsequently forwarded to the competent authority in New Delhi for confirmation.
The authority confirmed the order under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act.
Verma said the order places legal restrictions on the transfer, sale or other disposal of the properties, subject to applicable law and further legal proceedings.
He said Nurpur Police were pursuing a comprehensive strategy under the state-wide Anti-Chitta campaign, focusing not only on narcotics seizures and arrests but also on identifying and freezing assets allegedly acquired through drug trafficking.
So far, the police district has secured confirmation of asset-freezing orders involving properties worth Rs 31,71,61,429, aimed at striking at the financial networks sustaining the drug trade. UNI AR SS
