Himachal Roadways to Recruit Drivers, Conductors: Mukesh Agnihotri

Nagrota Bagwan (Himachal Pradesh), Sep 18 (UNI) — Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Thursday announced recruitment of drivers and conductors in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), while inaugurating and laying foundation stones for water supply, irrigation and sewerage projects worth around Rs 150 crore in Nagrota Bagwan assembly constituency.
Agnihotri also flagged off 10 electric buses from the Nagrota Bagwan bus stand and travelled by bus from Nagrota Bagwan to Baroh. Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman and Nagrota Bagwan MLA R S Bali accompanied him.
During his one-day visit, the Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for Baladhar and Sinhund Phase-I and Phase-II lift irrigation schemes costing Rs 6.35 crore. The projects will provide irrigation facilities to 135 hectares of land.
At Pathiyar, he inaugurated the Rs 25-crore Massal drinking water supply scheme constructed under the New Development Bank (NDB). The scheme will benefit more than 20,000 people in 40 villages across eight panchayats, with a 133-km pipeline network.
At Keerchamba, Agnihotri laid the foundation stone for a Rs 76-crore sewerage scheme covering the panchayats of Tharu, Kabari, Hatwas, Keerchamba and Sunehad.
At Baroh, he performed the bhoomi pujan for improvement and reconstruction of the existing Malanu, Nera Thamba, Baroh, Bussal-II and Toru drinking water schemes under the Asian Development Bank (ADB), at a cost of Rs 35 crore. The work has been targeted for completion by November 30.
Addressing public meetings at Baladhar, Sinhund, Pathiyar, Keerchamba, Nagrota Bagwan and Baroh, Agnihotri said the state government was according priority to strengthening basic infrastructure, particularly drinking water, irrigation and public transport.
He said HRTC was the "lifeline" of Himachal Pradesh and steps were being taken to strengthen the corporation. Around 500 old buses were being phased out, he said, adding that 200 diesel buses would be purchased for long-distance routes after induction of 297 electric buses. The government also plans to procure 1,000 new electric buses, he said.
Agnihotri alleged that new buses had not been purchased for HRTC during the previous BJP government, resulting in a shortage of buses.
Praising R S Bali, the Deputy Chief Minister said his late father G S Bali had given Nagrota Bagwan a distinct identity and made development a hallmark of the constituency. He said R S Bali was carrying forward his father's development initiatives.
R S Bali thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for inaugurating and laying foundation stones for various projects and credited party workers for the development achieved in the constituency.
