Panchkula, Sep 18 (UNI) Nearly 13,900 students of classes 1 to 3 across 275 government primary schools in Panchkula will put their reasoning and problem-solving skills to test on Saturday in a district-wide Puzzle and Pattern Championship being organised under the NIPUN Haryana Mission.
The school-level screening on September 19 will mark the first competitive stage of a special initiative for which the young students have been practising daily for the past two months.
District NIPUN Mission nodal officer Asindra Kumar said a core team had prepared special worksheets for the students during the two-month preparation period. For Saturday's screening, specially designed printed question papers have been prepared at the district level and supplied for every participating student.
The exercise is aimed at going beyond routine classroom learning by testing and strengthening children's logical and cognitive abilities through puzzles and pattern-based problems. Two teams will be selected from each school through Saturday's screening. They will represent their schools at the cluster-level championship on September 22.
The competition will subsequently move to block and district levels, where quiz contests will also be held on the lines of the television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, officials said.
District Elementary Education Officer Suman Chaudhary said the Puzzle and Pattern initiative was expected to play an important role in developing the intellectual and logical abilities of children. She wished the participating students success in the competition. UNI KK CDS
