HP: Scientists interact with farmers in Jalel and Thadi under Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan

Shimla, June 2 (UNI) A team of scientists from the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Shimla, visited villages under Gram Panchayats Jalel and Thadi in Vikas Khand Tutu as part of the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.
The visit aimed to promote awareness about scientific farming practices and connect local farmers with new technologies and government schemes.
The scientists held direct interactions with farmers, offering practical guidance on natural farming techniques, pest and disease management, and crop diversification. They also addressed farmers’ crop-related concerns and provided customised technical support.
In addition to field inspections, the team highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices to improve yield and income. Farmers were encouraged to take advantage of available schemes and register timely demands for plant varieties.
Horticulture Extension Officer D.P. Sharma provided detailed information about the cultivation of medicinal plants and varieties suitable for autumn and monsoon seasons. He urged farmers to plan their plantation needs in advance.
Senior Principal Scientists Dr. Vinod and Dr. Anil Chaudhary, along with Dr. D.P. Gautam, Dr. Yogesh Gautam, Dr. Kanta Sharma (Agriculture Development Officer), and Dr. Sumedha (Assistant Block Technical Manager), played an active role in the campaign. The program was held with the cooperation of Gram Panchayat Pradhan Anjana Rohal.
Officials and field staff from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments of Tutu Development Block also participated, reinforcing the campaign’s goal of promoting sustainable and profitable agriculture through scientific knowledge and community involvement.
