Hyd :Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda marks centenary with mass religious congregation

Hyderabad, Sept 20 (UNI) The historic Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda marked its centenary with a mass religious congregation at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally here on Sunday, with thousands of Sikh devotees and people from different communities participating in the celebrations.
Founded in 1926, the Gurudwara has completed 100 years of service and community life in Hyderabad, with its activities centred on faith, equality, brotherhood, compassion and `sewa' (selfless service).
The centenary celebrations were organised by the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda in association with Sikh Gurudwaras across Telangana. Devotees offered prayers to Guru Granth Sahib during the `Vishaal Diwan' (mass religious congregation).
The congregation was attended by prominent Sikh spiritual and community leaders, including Sant Baba Kulwant Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib, Nanded, Sant Baba Balwinder Singh of Hazur Sahib and Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
Renowned Ragi Jathas and Katha Vachaks from different parts of the country rendered Gurbani Kirtans and delivered discourses on the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
The speakers highlighted the values of national integration, peace, equality, brotherhood and communal harmony and called upon devotees to uphold the principles of service and peaceful coexistence.
Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda Prabhandak Committee President S Trilok Singh said the centenary celebrations marked a milestone in the Gurudwara's journey of faith, service and unity.
He said the Gurudwara had served generations as a place of worship, fellowship and selfless service and contributed to strengthening ties between the Sikh community and Hyderabad's wider social fabric.
The celebrations concluded with `Guru-Ka-Langar', the traditional free community kitchen, where devotees and people from different communities shared a meal together, reflecting the Sikh principle of equality and service to humanity.
As the Gurudwara enters its second century, the celebrations highlighted the importance of preserving its spiritual heritage while encouraging younger generations to uphold the values of service, equality and compassion.
