Hyd: Food safety teams inspect 20 establishments in LB Nagar; licences of nine suspended

Hyderabad, Sept 16 (UNI) The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) conducted a special food safety drive in LB Nagar and inspected 20 food establishments, including restaurants, hotels and manufacturing units, officials said on Wednesday.
Ten enforcement teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel carried out the inspections. Various violations were found at some establishments, including use of spoiled or contaminated meat and vegetables, pest infestation, unhygienic premises, improper record maintenance, expired food articles and inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
Officials lifted 20 food samples on suspicion of adulteration. Spoiled vegetables, stale meat and insect- or pest-infested raw materials, including groundnuts and flour, were discarded on the spot.
Improvement notices will be issued to Ramakrishna Oil Mill, Green Land Dhaba, Kefi Café and One Lounge Bar and Kitchen, while show-cause notices will be served on seven other establishments, including Galaxy Café and Restaurant, ANTERA-Nagole and Hotel Saradhi Grand.
Further action will be taken based on compliance and re-inspection.
The FSSAI licences of nine establishments, including Hotel Sangeeth Grand Restaurant and Bar, Bahar Biryani Café, Balaji Pheni and Namkeen, Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, Hotel Sindhura East Court, Chemistry Bar and Kitchen, New Limra Hotel, N Village Multicuisine Restaurant and Hotel Kinara Grand Restaurant and Bar, have been suspended with directions to stop business operations immediately.
At Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, officials seized 6,120 kg of groundnuts valued at Rs 5.50 lakh on suspicion of quality.
The inspection report also cited unhygienic handling practices and foreign matter and dust in the groundnuts used for oil manufacturing.
TG SAFE said further action would be taken based on the findings of the inspections and subsequent compliance checks.
