Hyd: Over 4,000 students receive degrees at ICFAI convocation; HCL Co-founder urges graduates to embrace AI

Hyderabad, Oct 31 (UNI) HCL Co-founder Dr Ajai Chowdhry on Saturday called upon graduates to set ambitious goals, move beyond their comfort zones and continuously upgrade their skills to adapt to rapid technological changes, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).
Addressing the 16th convocation of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) here, Dr Ajai said aspiration should be greater than available resources and urged students not to allow resource constraints to restrict their ambitions.
Citing the establishment of HCL in 1975 by six young engineers with limited resources but a strong vision, he said aspiration could drive innovation and resourcefulness.
The gap between ambition and available resources should inspire individuals to think creatively and explore new possibilities, he said.
Describing AI as a cognitive amplifier rather than a threat, he stressed the need for continuous learning and adaptability.
Degrees should be viewed as evidence of one's ability to learn and not as limits to future potential, he told the graduates.
Presenting the university's annual report, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Vinay Kumar highlighted its progress in academic excellence, research, innovation and industry engagement during 2025-26.
More than 4,000 students received degrees at the convocation, including PhDs in Management, Law, Science and Technology, and Economics.
MBA degrees were awarded to students of IBS Hyderabad and its Bengaluru off-campus centre, besides Executive MBA, online MBA and distance MBA degrees.
Graduates of the ICFAI School of Social Sciences also received their degrees.
