Hyderabad Police organise mega blood donation drive at 38 centres in memory of martyrs

Hyderabad, Oct 29 (UNI) The Hyderabad City Police organised mega blood donation camps at 38 locations across the city on Thursday to honour police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with around 30 blood banks, aims to collect nearly 5,700 units of blood for accident victims, thalassemia patients and cancer patients.
Director General of Police C V Anand inaugurated a blood donation camp at the CAR Headquarters in Petlaburuj, where police personnel, staff and members of the public voluntarily donated blood.
Speaking on the occasion, Anand said several service-oriented programmes were being organised across Telangana from October 21 to 31 in memory of police martyrs. He commended police personnel for their commitment to maintaining law and order, often sacrificing festivals and holidays in the service of society. He described blood donation as a life-saving service and urged private hospitals to promote public confidence in blood and organ donation.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the camps were organised as a tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs. He thanked government hospitals, blood banks, voluntary organisations and donors for supporting the initiative and said similar service-oriented programmes would continue.
Senior police officials, doctors and representatives of various hospitals and organisations, including Osmania, Gandhi, NIMS, Niloufer and MNJ Cancer hospitals, the Red Cross and the Thalassemia Foundation, participated in the programme.
