The IMD has also forecast isolated to scattered rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab throughout October 9-15, indicating unsettled weather conditions across parts of the region over the coming week.

Punjab is expected to receive isolated rainfall on October 9-10, scattered showers on October 11-12 and isolated rainfall during October 13-15.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation over southern Haryana and its neighbourhood, extending to 0.9 km above mean sea level, also continues to influence regional weather conditions.
The IMD's observations for the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday showed isolated rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab.
Despite the unsettled weather, nighttime temperatures remained unusually high across parts of northwest India.
Minimum temperatures were 3.1°C to 5°C above normal at many places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, while a few locations in Punjab recorded departures exceeding 5.1°C.
The IMD's Chandigarh observations showed minimum temperatures of 23.4°C at Ambala and Chandigarh, 24.4°C at Hisar, 25°C at Rohtak and 24.7°C at Gurugram. Amritsar recorded 23.3°C and Ludhiana 23.6°C, both more than 5°C above normal.
The weather department has advised people to exercise caution during thunderstorms, particularly against lightning and strong winds.
It has recommended avoiding shelter under trees and staying away from bodies of water and electrical conductors during lightning activity.
