New Delhi, Nov 4 (UNI) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has registered a nearly 80 per cent increase in housing sales during the first seven months of the current financial year, selling 9,332 flats between April and October 2026 against 5,198 units during the corresponding period last year.
The Authority recorded an increase of 4,134 units over the same period in 2025-26, with sales in the Low Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG) and High Income Group (HIG) categories already exceeding their respective figures for the entire previous financial year.
According to the DDA, 5,171 LIG flats were sold during April-October 2026, compared with 3,547 during the whole of 2025-26. Sales in the MIG category stood at 1,704 units against 1,580 in the previous financial year, while HIG sales more than doubled to 820 flats from 404.
Narela has emerged as the principal contributor to the increased demand, accounting for more than 90 per cent of the total flats sold during the current financial year so far. The Authority attributed the area's growing residential appeal to ongoing infrastructure development and improved connectivity.
Major projects, including the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the upcoming Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor, are expected to further improve connectivity to the area. The proposed 138-hectare Education Hub in Sectors G2 to G6, where land has been allotted to several universities and educational institutions, along with the Narela Sports Complex, green spaces and other civic amenities, is also expected to boost its residential prospects.
The DDA attributed the growth in sales to sustained efforts to accelerate the development of Delhi's sub-cities, alongside institutional reforms and increased outreach to prospective homebuyers. The initiatives have been undertaken under the monitoring and oversight of Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
In a move to provide more time to prospective buyers, the DDA has extended the booking period of its ongoing housing schemes under the First Come First Serve (FCFS) system until December 31, 2026. The schemes covered by the extension include the DDA Karmayogi Awaas Yojana 2025, DDA Karmajeevi Awaas Yojana 2026 and DDA Nagrik Awaas Yojana 2026.
The Authority said its housing schemes offer an entirely online booking facility through the DDA Awaas Portal, enabling buyers to complete the process from their homes. The flats are freehold and ready to move in, while sample flats have also been made available to help applicants assess the properties before making a purchase.
The DDA has also expanded housing options across different income groups, introduced multiple financing avenues through lending institutions and stepped up awareness campaigns to reach potential buyers.
The Authority said it would continue to focus on affordable housing, digital governance and improved service delivery as part of its efforts to promote planned and inclusive urban development in the national capital.
