Indiramma Housing Towers to provide homes to urban poor in Hyderabad: Ponguleti

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Indiramma Housing Towers near Malkam Cheruvu in Raidurgam and said the government was committed to providing housing to poor families within the city.
The Minister said the project was aimed at enabling the urban poor to live with dignity in prime locations instead of being shifted to the outskirts.
The government plans to construct one lakh Indiramma houses within Hyderabad city limits, he said.
Ponguleti said beneficiaries would get full rights over their apartments, including an undivided land share of 17-20 square yards, and sale deeds would be issued without registration charges.
Beneficiary selection would be transparent and based on eligibility through a lottery system, with no political interference, he said.
He said construction of 480 houses per constituency had begun in the first phase and assured that eligible applicants would be covered in subsequent phases.
The Minister directed officials to expedite construction and maintain quality standards.
He urged beneficiaries to regularly inspect the works and bring any quality-related issues to the notice of officials.
He said the government had already sanctioned 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses in rural areas in the first phase and another 2.5 lakh in the second phase.
