Indiramma Towers to be completed within one year: Ponguleti

Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government would complete the construction of Indiramma Towers and hand over the houses to beneficiaries within a year.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Indiramma housing towers at Gajulararamaram in Quthbullapur constituency on Tuesday, along with Minister and Ranga Reddy district in-charge Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and MLA K.P. Vivekananda, Ponguleti said the pilot project envisaging one lakh houses would be implemented transparently and expeditiously across 23 Assembly constituencies.
He said contractors had been given a one-year deadline to complete the works. To encourage early completion, incentives of Rs 45 lakh would be given for finishing a project one month ahead of schedule and Rs 90 lakh for completing it two months early.
The Minister said more than 7,000 applications were received from Quthbullapur constituency, of which 5,218 applicants were found eligible after scrutiny.
A transparent online public lucky draw was conducted among the eligible applicants, resulting in the selection of 480 beneficiaries. The selected beneficiaries would be provided details of their allotment and relevant certificates.
Ponguleti said the housing programme would continue in three more phases. About 7.5 acres of land were currently available and steps would be taken to identify additional government and Housing Department lands in the constituency for construction of houses for the poor.
He stressed that quality would be given top priority and advised beneficiaries to periodically monitor the construction of their houses.
He said the government’s objective was to make the dream of owning a quality house a reality for poor families and ensure that the construction takes place transparently before the beneficiaries.
