INS Sahyadri departs Vladivostok after India-Russia naval exercise INDRA 2026

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Indian Navy warship, INS Sahyadri, departed Vladivostok, Russia, on October 20, following the successful completion of the bilateral naval exercise INDRA 2026, aimed at enhancing operational coordination and interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy (RuFN).
The exercise was conducted in two phases, harbour and sea, combining professional exchanges and joint operational drills to strengthen cooperation between the two navies.
During the Harbour Phase, personnel from both sides participated in interactions among senior naval leaders, cross-deck visits, subject matter expert exchanges, operational coordination activities, sports fixtures and cultural programmes. These engagements provided opportunities to exchange professional knowledge, share operational practices and deepen mutual understanding.
The Sea Phase focused on coordinated manoeuvring, integrated communications, helicopter operations and medical evacuation drills. The activities enabled participating units to practise joint procedures at sea and improve coordination and interoperability during maritime operations.
Sports and cultural engagements complemented the operational activities, fostering camaraderie among personnel and reinforcing the longstanding naval relationship between India and Russia.
The successful conclusion of INDRA 2026 reaffirmed the defence and maritime partnership between the two countries, highlighting the importance of sustained naval engagement and joint training in addressing shared maritime challenges.
The exercise also underscored the commitment of the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy to strengthening professional cooperation and contributing to a secure, stable and peaceful maritime environment.
