International Trade City like China's Yiwu Trade City to be developed in Yamuna Expressway area

Lucknow, Oct 5 (UNI) In a significant initiative, a proposal has been mooted to develop an International Trade City modelled after China's Yiwu International Trade City in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area.
This project was envisioned at the recently concluded YEIDA board meeting. The proposed city is planned to be developed as a new global hub for trade, industry, and export.
Officials here today claimed that the International Trade City will provide an organized and recognized market for the region's industrial products, allowing for display, sale, and export from a single platform. This will provide local entrepreneurs and industrial units with access to new buyers and international trade opportunities.
The primary objective of the UP government's industrial policy is not only to make the state a hub for large investments but also to promote the products produced here to the national and international markets. The International Trade City could prove to be a crucial step in this direction. The proposed International Trade City envisions developing a systematic market and display facility for industrial products from various sectors. This will provide producers with the opportunity to showcase their products directly to buyers from India and abroad. It will also help increase business contacts between exporters and potential foreign buyers.
China's Yiwu International Trade City is considered one of the world's leading wholesale trade centres, offering an organized market for a large number of products. With this concept in mind, initiatives are underway to develop the proposed International Trade City in the Yamuna Expressway area. Its objective is to create a one-stop trading destination, providing facilities for the display, trading, and potential export of various industrial products under one roof.
The concept of an International Trade City is considered important amid the rapidly developing industrial areas and infrastructure in the Yamuna Expressway region. The expanding Noida International Airport could also become a major base for strengthening trade and logistics opportunities in the future. The development of expressway connectivity, industrial areas, and air cargo facilities is expected to improve the movement of products and access to international markets. This will expand business activities in the region, as well as increase the potential for new industrial units and investment.
The most significant benefits of the International Trade City can accrue to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local entrepreneurs. Small enterprises often face challenges in reaching larger markets and international buyers. The proposed Trade City could provide a new avenue for market access for these entrepreneurs. They will have the opportunity to showcase their products, connect with new buyers, and expand their business networks. This could boost local production and create new employment opportunities.
During the Yogi government's tenure, special emphasis has been placed on the development of expressways, airports, industrial parks, and logistics infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. The International Trade City is being conceptualized as a link to this broader industrial ecosystem. The objective is to ensure that investment in the state is not limited to the establishment of manufacturing units, but rather to develop the entire value chain from production to market and from market to global export. The International Trade City can serve as an important link in this direction, providing a common platform for producers, buyers, exporters, and business organizations.
Such an international trade centre could also prove crucial for campaigns like Uttar Pradesh's One District, One Product (ODOP). It could provide an additional platform for the unique products of various districts in the state to reach larger markets and international buyers. This could boost the branding, market expansion, and export potential of local products. An organized trading platform, especially for products with international demand, could create new opportunities.
The Yogi Adityanath government's industrial development strategy emphasizes establishing Uttar Pradesh as a major centre for investment, production, and export. This would provide new markets for local industries and, on the other hand, strengthen Uttar Pradesh's global trade potential. In the future, this region could develop into a hub of industry, trade, logistics, and export activities. Its development is expected to not only directly boost trade activity but also generate employment and business opportunities in logistics, warehousing, transportation, packaging, marketing, export services, and other supporting sectors.
