It is our responsibility to carry forward the traditions and values of our ancestors: UP CM Yogi

Lucknow, Oct 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that Sanatan culture is not merely a tradition of remembering the past, but a life-view that connects the past to the present and the present to the future. Pitru Paksha is an opportunity to express this eternal spirit.
He said that it is every person's responsibility to express gratitude to their ancestors and to carry forward their culture, traditions, and values.
In a message addressed to the people of the state on Monday, the Chief Minister said that through Shraddha during Pitru Paksha, people remember their ancestors and express gratitude to them. Pind Daan reminds us that our ancestors' penance, sacrifice, hard work, and values also contribute to who we are today.
He said that gratitude to our ancestors is a culture of understanding our inheritance. It is our duty to preserve what previous generations have given us and to pass on an even richer legacy to future generations. This spirit of eternal development unites families, keeps society connected to its roots, and provides new energy to the state and nation.
Yogi said that there are many instances in history when people considered the construction of lakes and wells for water by rulers who were revered by them as service to their ancestors. He said that in the Sanatan tradition, remembering ancestors is not merely a ritual but also instils a sense of responsibility towards society and nature.
The Chief Minister said that we should not limit this heritage to mere remembrance, but should also incorporate it into our conduct.
He said that we should respect family elders, introduce children to our values, and carry forward the tradition of knowledge, service, and morality that connects generations and guides the future.
He said that carrying forward the legacy of a healthy and secure life inherited from our ancestors is also a shared responsibility of the government and society. The state government is continuously working for the healthy and secure future of every family.
The Chief Minister stated that a special communicable disease control campaign will be launched from October 1 to 31, 2026, and the Dastak campaign will be launched from October 12 to 31, 2026.
The Chief Minister stated that during these campaigns, health workers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, and employees from other departments will go door-to-door to raise awareness about cleanliness, symptom identification, and timely treatment.
He stated that this state-wide campaign will play a crucial role in preventing mosquito-borne diseases and other infectious illnesses. Through collective efforts and public awareness, infections can be controlled to a large extent.
Yogi urged the people of the state to make cleanliness a part of their daily routine, avoid littering, prevent waterlogging, take symptoms like fever seriously, and make Dastak a health awareness campaign in every household.
He stated that the dream of a developed Uttar Pradesh will be realised only through healthy families and a healthy society.
