J&K Police recovers stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh from bank locker within 24 hours

Jammu, Sep 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered around 300 grams of gold ornaments worth nearly Rs 50 lakh, allegedly stolen from a bank locker in the Gandhi Nagar area here, within 24 hours of registration of the case.
A police spokesman said the gold ornaments were recovered by a team of Police Station Gandhi Nagar, following a complaint regarding the theft from a locker at the J&K Bank, Shastri Nagar Branch.
“On September 22, a complaint was lodged by Harvinder Kour of Ashok Nagar, Jammu, alleging theft of approximately 300 grams of gold ornaments, along with her original passport and other personal belongings, from her bank locker at J&K Bank, Shastri Nagar Branch, Jammu,” the spokesman said.
He said that police acted promptly on the complaint, a case was registered and launched investigation swiftly.
During the probe, SHO Gandhi Nagar Raghubir Choudhary, along with the police team and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, visited the scene and examined the available evidence.
Through sustained efforts and effective utilisation of technical and human resources, the stolen gold ornaments weighing approximately 300 grams and valued at around ₹50 lakh were successfully recovered, they said.
Further investigation and legal proceedings in the case are in progress.
