Jammu Sports Journalists body discusses sports welfare measures DG J&K DYSS

Jammu, Oct 5 (UNI) The Jammu Sports Journalists Association (JSJA) Monday called on Director General, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Anuradha Gupta, and discussed various welfare measures and ideas for the betterment of the sports sector in the union Territory.
The delegation comprising JSJA President Sanjeev Sharma, Vice President Vikas Abrol, General Secretary Vishal Bharti, Treasurer Monika Jamwal and Executive Committee members Arun Roshan, Ranjit Thakur and Arun Chib met the DG Sports and held detailed discussions on various issues concerning sports and the measures being undertaken to promote the sector.
During the meeting, the members highlighted the functioning of sports associations in Jammu and Kashmir, development of sports infrastructure, engagement of manpower and the need for workshops, seminars and conclaves focused on sports.
The JSJA members also suggested regular interaction between sports governing bodies, associations, journalists and concerned authorities to ensure greater transparency and result-oriented functioning in the sports sector.
The delegation assured the government-run sports departments of its full support and cooperation and said the Association would continue to offer constructive suggestions and advice for making the sports sector more vibrant and effective.
The members also discussed the recently introduced Sports Governance Act and Sports Tribunal Act by the union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and deliberated on various aspects related to sports governance and administration.
The JSJA members briefed the DG on the objective, functioning and roadmap of the Association and highlighted the role of sports journalism in promoting sporting activities and bringing various issues concerning athletes, coaches and sports associations to the notice of the authorities.
The members said the Association would work closely with the concerned departments and stakeholders to contribute towards the overall development of sports in Jammu and Kashmir, with the aim of helping the union Territory scale new heights in the field.
Congratulating the members on the formation of the newly constituted body, DG DYSS Anuradha Gupta appreciated the initiative taken by the JSJA.
She welcomed the suggestions put forth by the Association and assured that such interactions would help in better understanding the issues concerning the sports sector and in finding ways to strengthen sporting activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
