Jarange warns Maha Govt over cancellation of Kunbi certificates

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Oct 2 (UNI) Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil has issued a strong warning to the Maharashtra government over the cancellation of Kunbi caste certificates despite the availability of supporting records.
Speaking to the media, Jarange alleged that Kunbi certificates were being cancelled even after the government had assured the Maratha community that cases would be transferred to divisional commissioners for fresh hearings under a new government resolution (GR).
You had said that even if the court cancels a certificate, an appeal would be heard by the commissioner and the certificate would be restored. A new GR was issued and the cases were transferred to the commissioners.
The administration, the government, the GR and the divisional commissioners are all under your control. Yet certificates are still being cancelled, Jarange said.
He alleged that the government was unwilling to allow the community to progress and claimed that efforts were being made to weaken the unity achieved by the Maratha community.
We will show you the consequences. One day, when the government changes, the certificates will be issued anyway,” Jarange said, warning the authorities against taking steps that would adversely affect economically weaker families.
Jarange claimed that he had warned ministers about the issue nearly two months before the certificates were cancelled.
He said he had also spoken to state minister Uday Samant and raised the matter with Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and Prasad Lad in connection with minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
I had informed them about what was happening and told them not to take the wrong step. I asked them not to destroy the lives of poor families. If you have personal anger against me because I do not follow you and stand with my community, take it out on me. But do not take that anger out on the children of poor families, Jarange said.
He further claimed that Mangesh Chivate and Uday Samant contacted him a day or two later and informed him that a new GR had been issued to resolve the matter.
“They told me that everything would be cleared and that the cases had been transferred to the commissioners. They said a fresh process was being initiated and described it as good news, Jarange said.
According to Jarange, he questioned whether the new GR had been issued to validate Kunbi certificates or to declare them invalid. He said he told Chivate that it could be considered “good news” only if the commissioner, after hearing the appeals, upheld the validity of the certificates. UNI SP SAS
