Jharkhand: HC reserves order on Hemant Soren's IA in Badgai land case

Ranchi, Sep 16 (UNI) The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday reserved its order after hearing arguments on Chief Minister Hemant Soren's Intervention Application (IA) in the Badgai land case involving 8.86 acres in Ranchi.
Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad heard arguments from both sides before reserving the order on the application.
Through the IA, Soren has sought a stay till September 19 on the Ranchi special PMLA court's order rejecting his discharge petition, besides seeking a stay on further criminal proceedings before the trial court.
Senior advocate Amit Kumar Das and advocate Saurav Kumar appeared for the Enforcement Directorate, while senior advocate Meenakshi Arora represented Soren. The matter was also confirmed by advocate Dheeraj Kumar.
The special PMLA court in Ranchi had rejected Soren's discharge petition on June 8, 2026. The trial court had held that a prima facie case was made out against him at this stage based on facts presented by the ED.
Soren subsequently challenged the order before the High Court through a criminal revision petition, seeking its quashing and a stay on further criminal proceedings.
During the previous hearing on September 9, the High Court had directed the ED to file its response. The agency presented its submissions during Wednesday's hearing, following which the court reserved its order on the IA.
The special PMLA court has already framed charges against 14 accused in the Badgai land case, including former revenue sub-inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Antu Tirkey, architect Vinod Kumar Singh and others. UNI SSI SAS
