Jitendra Singh challenges Cong's 13-crore voter removal claim

Bengaluru, Nov 3 (UNI) The BJP on Tuesday challenged the Congress party's allegation that 13 crore voters had been removed from electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), arguing that the exercise was aimed at eliminating duplicate entries, accounting for deaths and migration, and strengthening the integrity of the country's electoral system.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP national general secretary Jitendra Singh said the Congress was presenting the revision exercise as mass voter removal without acknowledging the reasons behind changes in electoral rolls across states.
Countering the Congress' campaign against SIR, Singh cited figures which he said showed that a substantial number of entries involved voters who had shifted residence, could not be traced, had died or had duplicate registrations.
