Kakinada: YSRCP leader denies drug links alleged by TDP MLA

Kakinada, Oct 21 (UNI) Former MLA and senior YSRCP leader Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy on Wednesday denied allegations by TDP Kakinada City MLA Vanamadi Kondababu linking him to the drug mafia and challenged the legislator to order a CBI probe into the matter.
Addressing a press conference in Kakinada, Chandrasekhara Reddy said Rokkala Satyanarayana, who was arrested at Kochi airport a few months ago in a drug-smuggling case, had already been suspended from the YSRCP by the party’s city president.
Questioning Kondababu for linking his name to the arrested individual and the alleged drug-smuggling activities, the former MLA said he was prepared to quit politics permanently if a CBI investigation established his involvement.
He challenged the TDP legislator to quit politics if he failed to substantiate the allegations.
Chandrasekhara Reddy also alleged that a conspiracy and government action had brought rice exports through Kakinada port, reportedly worth Rs 1,000 crore, to a halt, affecting the livelihoods of thousands of port workers.
He further alleged that contractors were being made to pay four per cent commission under the pretext of Smart City funds and called on the district police to take stringent action against those allegedly operating single-number lotteries and gambling establishments in Kakinada.
The allegations made at the press conference could not be independently verified.
Former Deputy Mayor Sunkara Sagar, former corporator Misala Uday Kumar, Ragireddy Arun Kumar, J D Pavan Kumar and other YSRCP leaders attended the press conference.
