Kavitha seeks 75 pc ST reservation in agency area constable posts

Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) President Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded that the state government restore the mandatory 75 per cent reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in constable posts in Agency areas, alleging that the latest police recruitment notification had ignored the provision.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Kavitha said the reservation was mandated under GO 109 issued in 1988 and Gazette Notification 49 issued in 2018. She pointed out that the quota had been implemented in constable recruitment notifications issued in 2015, 2018 and 2022, but was omitted in the latest notification.
She warned that the omission could deprive more than 400 eligible tribal youth from districts including Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Warangal, Khammam and Mahabubabad of employment opportunities.
Terming the omission an injustice to tribal communities and a violation of their rights, Kavitha urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, to respond immediately and amend the recruitment notification to restore the 75 per cent ST quota.
She warned that tribal youth would unite to fight against the government if the demand was not addressed.
