Kedgaon, Lonand stations in Pune Division redeveloped under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Pune, May 19 (UNI) As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme initiative, 20 railway stations have been selected for redevelopment in Pune Division, out of which Kedgaon and Lonand stations have been developed and are scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 22.
The Government of India has undertaken an ambitious initiative to upgrade railway infrastructure across the nation with a focus on modernisation, safety, and enhanced passenger convenience, a release said today.
To showcase the completed redevelopment work at Kedgaon and Lonand stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), Pune Division organised a press tour today.
The tour began from the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Pune, and saw active participation from representatives of both print and electronic media.
The objective of the tour was to highlight the transformative infrastructure improvements and upgraded passenger amenities at these two important stations.
Kedgaon Station has been redeveloped at a cost of Rs 12.54 crore. The station now features a Cover over Platform (COP) and ramps connecting all platforms, improving accessibility for all, including senior citizens and Divyangjan passengers.
The approaches to the station have been upgraded with new entry/exit gates, while the circulating area and parking facilities have been restructured and beautified.
The station façade now sports sandstone cladding, traditional motifs, and LED illumination for enhanced aesthetics. The booking office has been modernised, waiting halls have been constructed. Modern toilet blocks catering for men, women, and Divyangjan passengers have been installed.
Platform infrastructure has been improved with tactile paving, new shelters, and bright LED lights.
Real-time passenger information is now accessible through coach guidance systems, multiline digital display boards, and GPS-synced clocks, said the release.
Lonand Station has been redeveloped with an investment of Rs 10.47 crore. The upgrades include a new station entrance hall, modernised booking office and concourse, new entry/exit gates, and a compound wall, the release added.
