Kerala CM stops convoy, sends accident victim to hospital in pilot vehicle

Kochi, Sep 21 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has stopped his convoy after noticing a youth injured in a road accident on the Container Road here and arranged for him to be taken to hospital in his pilot vehicle.
The injured youth, identified as Alvil Perera, 32, a native of Mulavukad, was travelling on a two-wheeler when the accident occurred near Kothad on Sunday evening. According to police sources, he fell onto the road after applying sudden brakes to avoid a collision with another vehicle. Other accounts said he was hit from behind by a car.
Satheesan, who was travelling from North Paravur to Ernakulam to attend a programme, noticed the injured man lying on the road and immediately stopped his convoy.
The Chief Minister got out of his vehicle, enquired about the incident and directed the police and security personnel accompanying him to shift the injured youth to hospital without delay.
The youth was subsequently taken in the Chief Minister's pilot vehicle to Aster Medcity Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. Police sources said he had sustained multiple injuries, but they were not life-threatening. Hospital authorities said he was under observation.
Before resuming his journey, Satheesan spoke to local residents to ascertain details of the accident and how it occurred.
The Chief Minister later continued his journey without the escort vehicle after ensuring that the injured youth had been taken to hospital.
