Latur farmer earns Rs 12 lakh from Guava farming on 2.5 acres; Governor calls to congratulate him

Latur, Nov 4 (UNI) At a time when drought conditions have severely affected agriculture across Maharashtra, a progressive farmer from Banegaon village in Ausa taluka of Latur district has demonstrated how efficient water management and natural farming practices can deliver impressive results even under adverse conditions.
Chandrakant Parihar has earned Rs 12 lakh from guava cultivation on just 2.5 acres of land, attracting appreciation from Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who personally called him to congratulate him on his achievement.
The Governor contacted Parihar over the phone from Lok Bhavan after learning about his success. He also expressed his desire to visit the farmer's orchard during his upcoming tour of Latur district.
Latur has received significantly less rainfall than its annual average this year, leading to a decline in groundwater levels and creating serious difficulties for farmers. While those without adequate irrigation facilities are struggling to sustain their crops, Parihar has successfully maintained his orchard through drip irrigation and natural farming techniques.
He cultivated the Taiwan Pink variety of guava on his 2.5-acre farm and nurtured the orchard with considerable care. Despite unfavourable weather conditions and water scarcity, he produced high-quality, flavourful guavas, generating an income of Rs 12 lakh. His produce has also attracted demand from various parts of Maharashtra.
Parihar's achievement came to the Governor's attention after a box of guavas grown on his farm was presented to him. Dr Nishikant Deshpande handed over the fruit box to Governor Varma in the presence of the Governor's Secretary, Dr Prashant Narnaware, Joint Secretary S. Ramamurthy and Private Secretary Pawan Singh.
Impressed by Parihar's innovative farming methods and determination, the Governor personally called him to convey his appreciation.
The farmer's achievement has generated considerable enthusiasm in Banegaon and neighbouring areas, highlighting the potential of water-efficient irrigation and natural farming practices in drought-prone regions.
