LoP Ashoka pens emotional song to father, flays govt

Bengaluru, June 15 (UNI) Opposition Leader R Ashoka on Sunday released an emotional Kannada song titled "Nijanayaka Appa" (True Leader Father) in tribute to his late father and all fathers, urging people to recognise and express love for their parents while they are still alive.

Speaking at the release event held at JSS Education Complex on the occasion of Father’s Day, Ashoka said he had personally written the lyrics of the song, pouring into it the deep emotions he felt for his father. "A father is the true pillar of the household – a yogi who silently shoulders all responsibilities. He gives pocket money to the children, funds to the wife, and carries the burden of the entire family. Yet, it’s rare for children to openly say they love their father," he said.

Recounting memories from his early life, Ashoka said, "I first contested in a gram panchayat election. My father wanted me to become the president and later, an engineer. But he passed away when I was only 27. Once, he stopped me from getting involved in a local dispute, which could have ruined my life. If I’ve reached this stage without mistakes, it’s because of him."

He added, "I wrote this song for my father and dedicate it to all fathers who spend their lives yearning only for their children’s love. A mother gives life, but a father gives a way of life."

Turning his attention to political matters, Ashoka came down heavily on the state government, accusing it of mishandling the recent stampede tragedy and failing to respond effectively to rain-related damage.

"There is complete confusion in governance. The Chief Minister says one thing and the Cricket Association says another. No one has come forward to take responsibility or provide treatment for the injured. I have demanded a legislative session to identify who is at fault. If the government is confident it is not to blame, let them hold a session," he said.

Ashoka also slammed the Congress government’s relief measures, saying, "Rain has damaged many areas, but no relief operations are visible. During the BJP government, we gave ₹1 lakh in compensation, while this government is offering only ₹10,000. No compensation is being given for farmers’ crop losses either. How long will they just chant their guarantee slogan? Give farmers a guarantee to live."
