Mumbai, June 7 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) which had earlier raided Bollywood actor Dino Morea's residence here, summoned actor and seven others to face a probe and their alleged links with the accused in multi-crore Mithi river desilting project, sources said here on Saturday.
ED is probing the alleged financial irregularities and corruption related to the river’s cleanup project.
According to the sources, during the raid on actor's premises on Friday the officials had examined various records and documents related to the financial transaction of the actor, who along with his brother Santino Morea, was earlier questioned by a special investigation team (SIT) of the Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for their possible links with the firm linked to the multi-crore Mithi river desilting project and close links with the arrested accused Ketan Kadam of Vodar India Ltd.
ED raids are part of an investigation into the scam, which has also prompted the Mumbai Police to register a case. The ED is targeting various contractors and BMC officials involved in the scheme.
The EOW's SIT has registered a case against 13 people, including contractors and civic officials, in connection with the scam and is probing the matter.
One of the arrested accused, Jay Joshi of Virgo Specialties Pvt Ltd, was on June four granted bail by the city sessions court after his bail plea was rejected by the local court.
Joshi had supplied a machine, which he had imported from Netherlands for Rs eight crore in March-April 2021 and was used in the project.
