Maha: FDA seizes udulterated edible oil worth Rs 3.5 crore in Buldhana district raid

Buldhana, Oct 1 (UNI) In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a manufacturing unit in the MIDC area of Khamgaon in Maharashtra's Buldhana district and seized allegedly fake and adulterated edible oil worth around Rs 3.5 crore, officials said today.
The action was carried out under the leadership of Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe at A.M. Oils Private Limited, where officials found that edible oil production was allegedly being carried out without a valid licence and in violation of prescribed food safety standards.
According to FDA officials, the company had been manufacturing and marketing edible oil for a prolonged period despite lacking the necessary authorisations.
During the raid, the entire stock was seized and sealed, while samples were collected and sent for laboratory analysis.
Authorities are also investigating the distribution network of the seized oil and tracing locations where the product may have been supplied across the district and elsewhere.
The FDA said strict action would follow based on laboratory reports and the outcome of the investigation.
The raid is part of the department's ongoing drive against food adulteration and violations that pose risks to public health.
