Maha: NCP’s alliance decision rests with Sharad Pawar, says Supriya Sule

Mumbai, June 8 (UNI) Responding to NCP MLA Amul Mutkari’s suggestion for a pre-election alliance involving herself and her cousin Ajit Pawar, party working president and MP Supriya Sule on Sunday acknowledged their sibling bond and appreciated the sentiment but clarified that the ultimate decision on alliance will be made by party president Sharad Pawar.
Talking to reporters in Baramati, she said, “Ajit Pawar and I have been siblings since childhood, and I value Mutkari’s wish. However, decisions about who contests where are not mine to make. The party will decide. We all respect Pawar sahib’s political wisdom, and whatever decision he takes is democratic. I will consult party workers and deliberate accordingly.”
She pointed that Sharad Pawar will engage with party workers before making any final decisions.
On the occasion of the 99th All India Marathi Literary Conference, Ms Sule noted that Maharashtra has been honoured with hosting the event after 32 years.
When asked about the presence of other Pawar family members in Baramati, she tactfully avoided specifics, stating, “I am in Baramati; I do not know where the other Pawars are. I am heading to Andapur from here.”
Regarding the Malegaon factory election, she mentioned a meeting scheduled for 5 pm and expressed her intention to keep politics aside, focusing instead on decisions that benefit farmers.
Commenting on senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s letter to the Election Commission, Ms Sule said that she is awaiting the Commission’s response and acknowledged that both Rahul Gandhi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have the right to express their views, she added.
