Maha: Over 520 evacuated as floodwaters recede in Gadchiroli

Gadchiroli, Sep 26 (UNI) Around 525 people were evacuated to safer locations in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district after heavy rainfall in neighbouring Chhattisgarh triggered flooding in the Bhamragad area, officials said today.
According to reports, the evacuation operation continued from Thursday afternoon until late at night under the supervision of District Collector Avishhyant Panda and Tehsildar Kishor Bagde.
Officials said water levels have started receding and the situation in the affected areas is gradually improving.
However, the district administration continues to closely monitor the situation and has advised residents living along riverbanks and in low-lying areas to remain alert.
Authorities have also advised people to avoid routes where floodwaters are still flowing.
The administration remains vigilant as floodwaters recede and continues to assess conditions in the affected areas.
Authorities shifted residents from vulnerable areas as rivers swelled following heavy rainfall.
With water levels beginning to recede, relief and rehabilitation measures are underway, while district officials continue to monitor the situation and assist affected families.
No major casualties were reported and efforts are being made to restore normalcy in the flood-hit region.
