VIA marks 63rd Foundation Day, highlights Vidarbha's industrial growth potential

Nagpur, Sep 26 (UNI) The Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) celebrated its 63rd Foundation Day in Nagpur today, highlighting the region's emergence as a major industrial hub and recognising outstanding contributions by members, forums and key institutions.
Addressing the gathering, VIA President Prashant Mohota said the association, founded 63 years ago to provide a strong and united voice to industry in Vidarbha, now stands at a pivotal moment as the region enters a new phase of industrial growth.
He noted that Maharashtra is pursuing the vision of becoming a trillion-dollar economy through progressive industrial, textile, electronics and food-processing policies, with Vidarbha increasingly at the centre of this transformation.
He said that in the last 20 months, 96 large and mega projects involving proposed investments of over Rs 8.4 lakh crore and generating more than 2.6 lakh jobs have been approved in the region.
Mohota said Gadchiroli is emerging as a major steel hub, while Nagpur is developing into a centre for solar energy, batteries, electric vehicles, semiconductors, rare-earth magnets, drones, aerospace and defence industr ies.
He added that projects such as Naya Nagpur, the PM MITRA Park in Amravati and new investments in textiles and food processing are further strengthening the region's industrial ecosystem.
He emphasised that these developments offer significant opportunities for VIA members as suppliers, fabricators, service providers, logistics partners, skilled professionals and ancillary industries and urged businesses to enhance scale, efficiency and competitiveness to benefit from the emerging opportunities.
Mohota also outlined various initiatives undertaken by VIA, including policy advocacy, regulatory support, industry visits, surveys, AI-enabled member engagement, district outreach, improved communication systems and strategic collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
