Maha: Tiger mauls 60-year-old woman to death in Chandrapur

Chandrapur, Oct 5 (UNI) A 60-year-old woman was killed in a tiger attack while working in her farm in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Monday, forest officials said.
The incident occurred around 2.30 pm in the Agarzari beat of the Moharli forest range.
The deceased was identified as Mandabai Suryabhan Mangam (60), a resident of Agarzari village.
According to forest officials, she was working in her agricultural field adjoining Reserved Forest Compartment No. 187 when a tiger, believed to have been hiding nearby, pounced on her and killed her on the spot.
Following information about the attack, forest and police officials rushed to the spot.
The body was sent to the District General Hospital in Chandrapur for post-mortem examination after completion of legal formalities.
Officials have installed camera traps in the area to monitor the movement of the tiger and intensified surveillance in nearby villages.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution while working in farms located near forest areas.
Forest officials said further investigation into the incident is underway.

Kolhapur court sentences man and his two sons to life imprisonment for murder

Kolhapur, Oct 5 (UNI) District session judge AM Patil today sentenced to life imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 each to a man and his two sons for the 2013 murder of a man over a minor issue in Raman-mala area of the city.
According to public prosecutor Sujata Ingale, accused Rajendra Ananda Sawant (63) and his two sons Abhijeet (32) and Dharyasheel (34), are all residents of Vichare Mala, a suburb of the city.
Accused Rajendra had a feud with Hemant Babaso Gaikwad and his brother Shashikant on a minor issue.
