Maha: Tushar Gandhi announces individual Satyagraha march to Mantralaya on Nov 1

Mumbai, Oct 17 (UNI) Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi will undertake an individual Satyagraha in Mumbai on November 1, walking from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters to the Maharashtra government secretariat, Mantralaya, carrying the national flag and a copy of the Constitution.
Gandhi announced on Saturday that the march would begin at 4 pm from the statue of Sir Pherozeshah Mehta outside the BMC headquarters.
According to his post on X, the route will pass through Hutatma Chowk and the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar before proceeding to the statue of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The march will conclude at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Mantralaya.
Describing the proposed programme as his individual Satyagraha, Gandhi said he would undertake the march carrying the Tricolour and the Constitution.
The announcement follows his earlier plan to stage a sit-in protest near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi outside Mantralaya during the first week of November.
He had said that he intended to protest near the seat of the state government rather than at another location.
Gandhi’s announcement comes amid recent demonstrations in Mumbai in support of protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. On October 10, Gandhi was among those detained by Mumbai Police ahead of a proposed demonstration at August Kranti Maidan in support of a protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party in Delhi.
