Manipur CM calls for collective efforts to restore peace, strengthen unity among communities

Imphal, Oct 14 (UNI) Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday called for collective efforts to restore peace in Manipur and strengthen unity among the State’s communities, saying mutual understanding and a willingness to work together are essential for progress.
He was speaking at the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan held at Chumthang Shanapung, Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai, under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency.
The Chief Minister observed that although some people express love for Manipur, they remain unwilling to go beyond the valley and embrace all communities. Manipur is home to 36 communities, he said, and needs leaders who can bring people together and foster unity.
Speaking on the national economy, he said India has been moving towards becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing economies since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, and has entered the top four economies globally in terms of growth.
Referring to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, Khemchand Singh said the people of Manipur must contribute meaningfully to the national goal as India moves towards becoming a developed nation. He stressed that efforts to restore peace must be pursued collectively, with all sections of society working together.
Citing Singapore as an example, he said there are valuable lessons to be learnt from other countries, but people must also be willing to learn, work hard and bring positive changes in their own society.
Highlighting development in the Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency, the Chief Minister said roads there are now being built using the rigid pavement system, though construction takes considerable time.
As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, outreach camps were set up by 42 government departments, enabling people to access services, obtain information and avail themselves of welfare schemes.
