Bhind, June 22 (UNI) A couple were killed and their two children and a grand daughter injured in an accident in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Sunday.
The accident occurred on the Gwalior-Etawah National Highway 719 in the Mehgaon police station area on Saturday.
Police sources said a truck heading towards Gwalior collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw in Kheriabag.
The auto-rickshaw driver, Umesh Singh Rajawat (48), and his wife, Yashoda Devi (46), died at the scene. Their sons, Kanh Rajawat (14) and Shiva Singh Rajawat (12), and their granddaughter, Pinki, were seriously injured.
The couple was traveling from their village, Sirsi, to Adityapuram in Gwalior when the accident occurred. The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted, and their bodies were handed over to their families for the final rites.
The police are currently searching for the truck driver responsible for the accident. UNI XC AKT SSP
