Nagpur Congress protest against Rahul Gandhi's detention in Delhi

Nagpur, Oct 7 (UNI) Congress workers staged a protest against the detention of their leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and attempted to march towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office on Wednesday.
According to reports, the protest was triggered by the detention of Gandhi during demonstrations in the national capital over demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Angered by the development, a large number of Congress workers gathered near the BJP office in Ganesh Peth and tried to enter the premises.
Police personnel deployed at the spot intervened and detained several protesters to prevent the situation from escalating.
The action further intensified resentment among Congress workers.
In response, members of the BJP Yuva Morcha reached the Ganesh Peth police station and staged a demonstration against the Congress protest.
Some workers reportedly entered the police station premises, prompting the police to strengthen security arrangements.
Workers of both parties came face-to-face, leading to heightened tension in the area.
However, police managed to bring the situation under control and maintained a heavy security presence to prevent any untoward incident.
The incident has once again brought the political rivalry between the Congress and the BJP in Nagpur into sharp focus.
Police said the situation was being closely monitored and adequate security measures remained in place. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has since been released.
