Nashik: Officials assigned responsibilities amid water scarcity concerns

Nashik, Oct 2 (UNI) A special campaign was conducted on October 2, marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to review programmes in Nashik and assign responsibilities to officials.
Addressing the officials, Chief Engineer Haribhau Gite expressed concern over the growing water crisis in Maharashtra and warned that farmers could face serious challenges in the coming months due to water scarcity.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Haribhau Gite of the Water Resources and Conservation Department, Superintending Engineer Rajesh Govardhan, Superintending Engineer Subodh More of the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, and Executive Engineers Sonali Shahane and Bhagwat, among other officials.
Preparations for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 in Nashik were also reviewed during the meeting, with several activities and arrangements already underway.
Officials were instructed to remain vigilant about the emerging water crisis and take necessary measures to address the challenges facing farmers.
They were also directed to ensure the smooth implementation of the campaign and the timely execution of preparations for the 2027 Kumbh Mela.

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Police have detained six persons suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in India and busted an alleged racket involved in preparing fake Indian identity documents.
According to police, the alleged prime accused, identified as Iqbal Akbarali Shaikh alias Gautam Sunil Dutta (35), facilitated the entry of persons from Bangladesh into India and allegedly arranged identity documents, railway travel, accommodation and employment for them.
