New Puri–Badampahar Express train to boost railway Ccnnectivity in Odisha: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced that the Centre has approved a new express train service between Puri and Badampahar in Mayurbhanj district, marking another significant step towards strengthening railway connectivity across the state.
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate the new train service in the first week of November, the Chief Minister said.
The proposed train service is expected to improve rail connectivity across six districts—Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj—making rail travel more convenient for passengers while giving a fresh impetus to regional development and economic activities.
Majhi made the announcement at Bhubaneswar New Railway Station while flagging off a special train carrying around 1,000 representatives from 19 Naxal-free districts of Odisha to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat. The representatives will participate in the National Unity Day parade scheduled for October 31.
The new Puri–Badampahar Express is expected to strengthen transportation links between important religious, cultural and regional destinations in Odisha. It is also likely to benefit passengers by improving access to different parts of the state.
The announcement reflects the state government's continued emphasis on expanding railway infrastructure and improving connectivity, particularly in regions that stand to benefit from better transportation facilities.
With the proposed service, Odisha is expected to take another step towards making rail travel more accessible and supporting balanced regional development across the state.
